šŸŒŸ September Surprises: Charitable Walks, Whoopie Pies, & More! šŸ‚

“Autumnā€¦the yearā€™s last, loveliest smile” ā€“ William Cullen

šŸ The leaves are turning and the temps are dropping!
We want to say thank you to everyone that joined us Tuesday night for our mixer at the Welcome Center! It was a fun night with a few new faces and lots of laughs! We will definitely host another! Ronzoniā€™s steak and cheese and portabella mushroom veggie and cheese sandwiches were delicious. We especially appreciated Baird Farm, Pyramid Holistic, Mountainside Mutts, and the Alzheimer’s Association joining us and sharing a little bit about their businesses! And of course we all love getting a little sparkle in our hair from Liz Reddy!

Remember to mark your calendars for Wednesday, September 11th at 7:00 PM for the Final Public Meeting of the Killington Connecting TrailsĀ ScopingĀ Study. The prospect of many of our local trails connecting is very exciting. There are many safety issues to address in order for bicycles and pedestrians to connect safely. This is your chance to hear the plans and provide your input surrounding our local trails.Ā VHB will be presenting their findings and recommended trail connections.

September is the month of charitable giving. There are so many wonderful causes to support and participate in.

šŸ‘Ÿ Out of the Darkness Community Walk ā€“ September 7, 2024
Tomorrow friends, family, co-workers and supporters come together to walk side-by-side, supporting each other, creating connections and sharing in a movement that will give everyone in ourĀ communityĀ the courage to open up and be there for one another. The funds raised support the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.

Team Hi FRiENDĀ led by Jenna from Baird Farm have reached their goal of $10,000 supporting this cause that is near and dear to them. Congratulations! Feel free to keep the support going. In 2019 Robby Southworth, a good friend to Jenna and a member of our local community, lost his life to suicide. Since, she has participated in the Annual Out of the Darkness Walk every year to help prevent suicide and spread awareness about mental health. Community Health also has a team with walkers making a difference, creating awareness, changing the conversation about mentalĀ healthĀ and putting a stop to this tragic loss of life.

Pie in the Face for Chase is celebrating its 11th Anniversary! The annual event will be held on Sunday, September 15th from 1-6pm at The Summit Lodge. Itā€™s only $10 to get in, which enters you into the door prize raffle! There will also be a silent auction, a teacup raffle and of course pie throwing for your amusement. We invite you to follow us on Facebook and Instagram to keep up with details on the event. If you have ever wondered what itā€™s like to throw a pie at someone, I encourage you to join in! Great cause and Great fun!

Chase was diagnosed with Phelan McDermid Syndrome at the age of 2 and is one of only 2,200 people diagnosed worldwide. Phelan-McDermid Syndrome (PMS), is also known as 22q13 Deletion Syndrome. It is a genetic condition that is caused by a mutation of the SHANK3 gene or a deletion (a missing piece) of genetic material that causes many different but related symptoms. The genetic changes that cause PMS vary from person to person and can occur randomly (de novo) or be inherited from a parent who carries a related genetic change.

šŸ’œ Paint the Town Purple – Month of SeptemberĀ
To help support the Alzheimerā€™s Association of Vermont we invite everyone to paint Killington purple. Throughout the month of September look for purple donation boxes, flowers, and wristbands at your local businesses. We encourage businesses to create a specialty dessert or drink and donate the proceeds!
We have flowers and wristbands at the Welcome Center. Betsey Bianchi has plenty of swag sheā€™s willing to share! Reach out and watch for Betsey when she visits. Paint the Town Purple proceeds support the Rutland Walk to End Alzheimer’s held on September 21st.
