Killington, June 1. 2019 -- Now in its 37th Season of presenting fine chamber music the Killington Music Festival takes much pride and pleasure in announcing its concert schedule for 2019.  On Saturday evenings from June 29th through July 27th the internationally acclaimed musicians of the Killington Music Festival will perform at Rams Head Lodge at the Killington Resort at 7pm.  During the Music in the Mountains Classical Concert Series they will also teach, guide and mentor the young aspiring musicians from around the country and abroad.

On June 29, 2019 the Killington Music Festival's 38th Season opens with "Simon Ghraichy at the Piano".   Simon is an acclaimed French pianist and a Festival favorite.  He is renowned for his unique personal style defined with rich, diverse cultural influences.  An exclusive recording artist for Deutsche Grammophon, Simon will perform repertoire listed in his most recent releases from CD's entitled Heritages and 33. 


Join us on July 6, 2019 with "Third Times a Charm".   An diverse program including Dvorak's celebrated Terzetto, Mendelssohn's epic Piano Trio in d minor and Schoenfield's vibrant and high energy Cafe' Music.  With 3 performers for each piece and 3 masterpieces on the program, it's fitting that the Third Times a Charm!


On July 13, 2019 we present "Winds through Green Mountains".    KMF's wind faculty will soar over the Green Mountains with a vast repertoire to feature composers new to Killington by Kokai and Moeran while still offering the ones we've come to love, including Saint-Saens and Chopin.  A potpourri of jewels combining wind and stringed instruments, this program highlights a diverse chamber music repertoire that celebrates KMF's mission of bringing all things related to chamber music to its community.


July 20, 2019 "Remembrance".  Remembrances is a performance focused on the memory of those who inspired some of the most influential compositions today.  Shostakovich's String Quartet No. 7 was written in memory of his wife Nina, who died suddenly of cancer, and wrote the work in F sharp minor, traditionally associated with pain and suffering.  Barber's celebrated Adagio from his string quartet.  Although not intentionally written for this purpose, it had become one of the most commonly used pieces to bring audiences into a reflective and contemplative mood after meaningful events.  To close the program, Glinka's Grand Sextet, which was written for the daughter of his physician whom he frequently visited.  


Please join us on July 27, 2019, our "Grand Finale at Ramshead Lodge".  This festival favorite will feature a string quartet made up of KMF Faculty with an additional exciting feature by newfound violin guest artist soloist, Virgil Boutellis-Taft.  Virgil has performed extensively throughout Europe and the United States, and he will perform Vitali's virtuosic Chaconne, Piazolla's beloved Oblivion, and Bach's timeless Double Violin Concerto with KMF Artistic Director, Dr. Daniel Andai.


The concerts are held at Rams Head Lodge at the Killington Ski Resort at 7:00 pm.  Ticket prices are $25.  Tickets are available through the box office at 800-621-6867.  Advance tickets may be ordered by phone through the day prior to the performance.  Tickets may be purchased the day of the performance beginning at 6pm at Ramshead Lodge.  The Friday night performances of the Young Artists Series are held at the Rams Head Lodge at 7pm and admission is free.
